NASA Asteroid Contest

XArc Collaborates With NASA's HHPC in Development of Middle School Asteroid Contest

XArc is collaborating with the NASA Human Health and Performance Center (NHHPC), Clemson University, Orion's Quest, Square One Education Network, and other members of the NHHPC to develop and conduct an educational contest for students in the 6th through 8th grades. In the Spring of 2013, students from across the nation are invited to academically challenge themselves as they dive into the world of science and mathematics with the NASA Asteroid Contest. Students are asked to consider what is needed to send a human crew on mission to an asteroid, and prepare a presentation to NASA that outlines mission plans; which asteroid should we visit; what is the mission goal; what challenges will need to be identified; and how will they solve the challenge? The contest goal is to engage more students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and to simulate students by providing an opportunity for them to explore and discover.
